What is the Installation Process of a Residential Elevator?
Installing a home elevator is an exciting upgrade that improves accessibility, convenience, and property value. Proper preparation ensures a smooth and safe installation process. Follow these steps to prepare your home for your new residential elevator.
Clear the Installation Site
Before your home elevator installation begins, clear the work area of all furniture, household items, and pets. Close off any access points to the room to keep the space secure. This applies to both floors where the elevator will operate.
When the installation team arrives, builders will secure the downstairs ceiling with boards and props. This step ensures structural safety before creating the elevator shaft (aperture).
Preparing the Upper Floor
After securing the lower level, the team will move upstairs to prepare the floor. They will remove carpet or other flooring to create the aperture.
Support timber will be placed over the opening as a temporary cover for safety. The original carpet section will be trimmed and set aside—later used to cover the trap door so the flooring looks seamless when the elevator is parked below.
Electrical Preparation
An electrical contractor will assess your home’s electrical system. A dedicated power supply will be installed to meet your elevator’s requirements. The work area will remain isolated for safety during this process.
What to Expect on Home Elevator Installation Day
On installation day, the professional team will arrive at the scheduled time. Depending on the elevator model, size, and home layout, installation may take up to two days—this will have been discussed in advance.
Installing the Pollock Residential Elevator
The Pollock Residential Elevator uses two rails installed beside a wall (but not directly on it). This design prevents wall damage and preserves space in the room when the lift is parked elsewhere.
After installation, the team will test the elevator thoroughly, checking all safety features. Homeowners and caregivers will receive a full demonstration of elevator operation, safety guidelines, and best maintenance practices.
The installation team will then provide the Pollock Residential Elevator Owner’s Manual, service log, and direct contact details for future support.
After Your Residential Elevator Installation
Once your home elevator is operational, routine care and maintenance will keep it running safely and efficiently.
Maintenance Tips for Your Home Lift
- Clean the elevator interior regularly.

A home elevator is a long-term investment—regular upkeep ensures smooth performance for years to come.
